Let me start by telling you who I’m not. I’m not a trained chef. I’m not paleo, vegan, low carb, low fat, or whatever else is trendy these days. I’m not a homemaker or a professional blogger.
I’m just a man that loves food. I grew up living with and working for a recipe developer (hi mom!). I have a degree in Nutrition and Food Science. My career is in food. I live in San Francisco, where the boundaries of food are constantly being pushed. I would be bored to death if I wasn’t constantly trying new things in the kitchen every week. Honestly, I live for food.
If i had to put a label on it, I’d say I’m a “flexitarian,” but more than anything, I believe in balance and moderation with food. No gimmicky, restrictive diets. But I will admit that throughout my food journey, I’ve become increasingly sketched out by the meat industry. And San Francisco is expensive. Like, crazy expensive. While I’d love to cook with organic, free-range, grass fed meat, I’d have to live on the streets to afford that quality! So I generally aim to make plants the centerpiece of my recipes. Now, that doesn’t mean I’m going to be throwing a bunch of tofurkey and seitan at you. Plants can stand alone, and I dig finding creative ways to prove that. That said, I’m going to post whatever the hell I want, because this is my blog, and inspiration is unpredictable.
